CheckoutPilot STEP-BY-STEP HELP

Understand your rules before release.

Learn the rule-building workflow, explore sample baskets and understand what must be checked before a rule can affect a real checkout.

Before you start

CheckoutPilot is a development preview, not an approved production release. Strict cash/card enforcement and express-wallet compatibility remain under testing. Use the public preview to explore; do not rely on it to protect live orders.

01 / CHECKOUTPILOT

Explore without changing your shop

  1. Start with the public preview

Open the interactive CheckoutPilot preview. It uses sample data, does not install the app and does not start billing or change a live checkout. Existing installed test shops open the actual app from Shopify Admin.

  2. Choose a simple example

Start with one product condition and one intended payment outcome. Check the product or variant, basket amount, item count and buyer-country conditions you are using. Keep the first example small enough to inspect clearly.

  3. Try matching and non-matching baskets

Use the sample basket controls to compare a basket that should match, one that should not, and a mixed basket. Read which conditions matched and which payment actions are proposed.

Keep in mind

The simulator explains sample outcomes. A successful simulation is not evidence that Shop Pay, express wallets or a real payment provider will enforce the same restriction.

02 / CHECKOUTPILOT

Prepare an installed test shop

  1. Check Shopify’s payment setup first

Configure the required payment methods in Shopify. CheckoutPilot works with existing methods; it does not create cash on delivery, connect a gateway, process card details or collect deposits. Do not activate live payments just to follow this guide.

  2. Use exact product and method details

Select the intended products or variants and exact payment-method names in the app. Translated checkout labels can differ from underlying method names. A misspelled allow-only method can leave no usable option.

  3. Save and inspect a draft

Save the rule draft and review its conditions and actions. Saving is separate from release and does not change checkout. Check mixed baskets: conflicting cash-only and card-only items may require separate orders.

03 / CHECKOUTPILOT

Understand the live-release boundary

Production activation is not a step to bypass. Strict payment restrictions require verified store compatibility and real checkout evidence. Store configuration, region, Shopify plan and express-wallet paths can change what is supported.

If the app blocks a release or says it needs inspection, stop and contact support. An empty wallet list does not prove express payment paths are disabled, and a normal checkout test does not prove Shop Pay enforcement.

After an eligible, supported test release, verify matching, unmatched and mixed baskets using an approved test checkout. Repeat the checks after changes to gateways, wallet settings, themes or other checkout apps. This guide is not confirmation that production activation is currently available.

Keep in mind

If a checkout is unexpectedly blocked, use the app’s Review or pause checkout rules screen to review a pause. Pausing removes both payment restrictions and conflict protection. Billing failure does not automatically pause existing rules. Do not blindly retry an uncertain release.

04 / CHECKOUTPILOT

Try a theme cart offer

  1. Use an installed test shop

Open the theme editor and add the CheckoutPilot cart-offer block to a supported section. Choose the offered product and save the theme configuration. A switch in the public preview does not install a block.

  2. Test your actual theme

Check the cart page and cart drawer, on phone and desktop, including sold-out variants and selling plans. Compatibility with every drawer is not guaranteed. The block does not create a discount or a post-purchase upsell.

Plans and where to find help

In an installed shop, Plan and access shows verified subscription access and a link to Shopify’s plan management. Starter supports five saved rules and Pro supports 25; disabled rules also count. A subscription does not override compatibility checks or the production activation lock.

Setup and support links to the saved rules, plan page and checkout release status. For an inspection warning, include the shop domain, affected screen, approximate time and a redacted screenshot when contacting the studio.

Common questions

Can this guarantee switching between cash and card on every store?

No. Strict restrictions remain under compatibility testing. Payment providers, Shopify configuration and accelerated paths can differ. Do not sell or rely on a universal enforcement promise based on the preview.

Does a free test subscription mean production is ready?

No. Billing access, compatibility verification and release approval are separate. A free development-store plan does not prove live checkout behaviour.

Are deposits, balance collection or POS included?

No. Deposits, automatic balance collection, POS, recurring subscription enforcement and post-purchase upsells are not included.
